Below are some frequently asked questions and their answers that may help you in making a decision to use Magic Dragon.

Q:  What kind of materials do you typically use?

A:  We use water-based paints.  Clean-up is easier and there is very little, if any, odor.  Usually latex paints are selected for the faux finishes, with occasional use of specialty glazes or metallic paints.  Murals are mostly done with acrylic artist's paints.  However, sometimes for very large works latex paints are used for the background.

Q:  How long does it take to complete a project?

A:  It depends on the size and complexity of the project.  For murals, the more detail there is, the longer it takes.  For example, the carousel horse took about 25 hours to prepare for and complete the 4' x 7' painting.  In contrast, one of the Pooh murals covering all four walls of a room took over 80 hours to complete.  In the case of faux finishes, there are often several layers of paint involved in creating the desired effect.  This can often mean that while it might only take a couple of hours to paint a wall a single color, it may take 10 hours over several days to create a faux finish on the same wall.

Q:  Are you licensed and insured?

A:  Yes, we are licensed and insured in North Carolina.

Q:  Do you do any construction, repair or remodeling?

A:  Very little.  We can touch up small cracks, nail holes or similar flaws in walls.  More extensive changes or repairs are generally outside our abilities.

Q:  Do you do "regular" painting?

A:  Yes, we do.  However, we usually only do this as part of a mural or faux finish project.  Example: If we're doing a mural on one wall of a room and you'd like the other walls just painted just a single color.

Q:  When is payment due?

A:  A 25% deposit is required before work begins to cover the cost of materials.  The remainder is due upon completion of the project.

Q:  What are acceptable forms of payment?

A: Cash, check or money order only.  We are unfortunately unable to accept payment by credit card at this time.
